DKQW is the windows (Win95 and Win98) version of DKQUE, a utility program that lists all pending quests in a Darklands save game. It tells you where to go, what to get and who to give it to. Often (for quests not in a city) it will specify a location near a city different than what you were told in the game, as a rule DKQUE provides a closer city than the game did. If you took notes when the quest was given to you, you'll have an execellant set of directions to triagulate the location of the quest. When questing for a Raubitter, it also tells you the name of the Keep. IMPORTANT: COPY DKQW INTO YOUR DARKLANDS DIRECTORY! Do NOT put it in your save game directory. To use; click its icon or create a shortcut for it and use the shortcut. DKQW reads the dates & times of your saved games and finds the most recent saved game and lists the quests. You have a choice between displaying the quests as one big scrolling screen or formatted as printed pages. You may also print the quest report. You can leave DKQW running in the background while you run Darklands (assuming you're running Darklands within windows. To reload your most recently saved game, select FILE | NEW or click on the File New icon on the tool bar. To load in any other saved game, select FILE | OPEN or click on the File Open icon in the tool bar. Note: if you change page orientation (landscape, portrait), reload the save game or toggle the page mode so the print device metrics get recalculated properly.
